How to make the HIIT easier
First of all HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training and it’s a great way to get results (I would say the best way). Second, I want to tell you about a little tool to make it easier to follow a HIIT workout. As the name says, High Intensity…, it’s always a hard workout.
Some of my personal training clients are already familiar with the beep or whistle coming from my mobile phone while working out.
I used to use my stopwatch or a special timer called GymBoss to do some workouts but have been using some apps either on my iPad or on my android phone for a while now and it makes the session flow a lot smoother (some would say ‘harder’). It’s so much easier than the stopwatch or they special timer.
The app I’ve been using the most at the moment is called “A HIIT Interval Timer”.
Here are the pros and cons of this app.
Pros:
1. You can set different sets as mini workouts. On this sets you can name different exercise, rests, etc with different times for each and set how many times you want it to run.
2. You can create workouts with the sets you’ve created. You can ‘load’ your sets to your workout and even modify them for each specific workout. Saving you time if you have complex sets and have to create different workouts as I do for my personal training clients. Saves a lot of time.
3. You can set different sound schemes. You can choose to have 3 warning beeps before the end of the exercise, you can choose to give a count down, no sound at all, vibrate, etc.
4. You can stop in the middle of the workout/sets and skip forward or backward. Very useful on a personal training session as sometimes you need to change your plans according to the person.
Cons:
1. At the moment the only con is it doesn’t give me the option to send the workout to someone else with the same app. It would be great to be able to send the workouts I’ve created to clients/friends or even if I change my phone to be able to save it.
