Tip to motivate yourself

What motivates you to stay fit? Do you always start a fitness regime and after a while you completely stop or ask yourself why are you doing it? How do you keep yourself motivated?

A good tip to keep yourself motivated is to set yourself some challenges. Every now and then I throw myself into something different. Could be a marathon (or maybe two). Sometimes I get some inspiration from another people and try to do something I cannot do at the moment as for example I’ve always found amazing at how some people could stand on a stability ball and at the end of last year I’ve decided I was going to do it and practised every day until I’ve managed to do it.

Last night I’ve even accepted a challenge on Google+ from a friend who posted a picture asking who could do that. Took me a few seconds to reply “I’ll try to do it and send you a picture”. I’m in trouble.

Even had a little competition going on with a friend trying to post a different challenging picture every week on Facebook.

This year I’ve also signed myself up for the Tough Mudder Challenge on 8th June.

I’ve seen people signing up for triathlons, 5km/10km races, swimming challenges, marathons, etc.

It doesn’t need to be something absurd, just something challenging (but achievable) which will need some effort and discipline from your part.

It would be a good idea to tell people your are doing it so you’re accountable to someone. There is no way back. Some people do it for charity and ask some sponsorship. Would you back out if friends and family gave you some money to support your chosen charity?

Once the challenge is set. Believe in yourself and ask for a professional advice if you don’t know how to train for your challenge or need some extra motivation.
