Full body exercise
This is one of the exercises I like to use when I’m training as you can have a really good full body workout in just a few minutes.
If you would you like to do a whole body workout but don’t have too much time this is a good option as you are going to work everything. Legs, arms (pulling and pushing muscles), core, strength, cardio.
You can perform it with a barbell, a pair of dumbbells or a pair of kettlebells.
Make sure you use a challenging weight but heavy enough to perform a shoulder press with a good technique.
During the push up phase keep your spine with a neutral alignment (don’t let your back collapse or arch).
During the shoulder press phase also keep your spine in neutral. To help to keep a good alignment keep your bar slightly forward (not straight above your head).
If you need an option, try to do it without the push up but hold for a few seconds on a plank position instead.
As with all exercises listen to your body and ask for a professional advice if not sure how to perform.
